Feelings of loneliness and isolation are often strong in people who are struggling with addiction and substance use disorders. Many times, isolation causes people to forget that there are many others just like them who are feeling exactly the same way and struggling with similar problems.

Jessie’s Story

When she first came to our drug and alcohol rehab center, Jessie, one of our ARC alumni, was suffering from both substance abuse and isolation. Prior to visiting our recovery center, Jessie felt alone and wasn’t sure where to turn for help. Even her closest friends and family members were at a loss as to how to help Jessie fight addiction.

Jessie’s wake-up call came after a 40-day hospitalization for alcohol- and drug-induced pancreatitis. According to a 2018 study published in F1000 Research, alcohol is a leading risk factor for chronic pancreatitis. Jessie says she continued drinking and using after her hospitalization, which she eventually recognized as a major red flag that prompted her to seek help from ARC.

Shortly after arriving at ARC, Jessie came to realize that many of her peers in recovery had stories similar to hers. Hearing everyone else’s stories at drug rehab motivated her to become healthier and achieve long-term recovery from substance abuse.

A Healthier Lifestyle After Substance Abuse

Jessie says that becoming healthier was one of her main recovery goals and that she was drawn to ARC because of its swimming pool, fitness center, and other amenities.

For those who need help recovering from substance use disorders and comorbid health conditions, ARC offers an inpatient residential rehab program complete with drug detox and alcohol detox programs.
