CBT and REBT are forms of treatment that focus on examining the relationships between thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Often called “talk therapy,” these techniques allow you, under the guidance of your therapist, to reveal to yourself many of the unconscious, negative beliefs you have that prompt you to drink alcohol or abuse drugs. Negative thoughts such as these often are why addicts attempting recovery fall into the lapse/relapse trap. In ARC’s CBT/REBT program, the goal is clear: As you “unlearn” powerful negative beliefs by revealing and addressing them, you are developing other thought processes that can lead to healthier activities and more positive perspectives on life.
